playwestbets is committed to minimising gambling harm and supports customers to wager within means. This policy describes the harm-minimisation tools available, the indicators of gambling harm and problem gambling, and the support services available to customers, their families and friends.
playwestbets complies with the National Consumer Protection Framework for Online Wagering, the VGCCC harm-minimisation directions and applicable Victorian legislation.
Harm-minimisation tools
- Deposit limits. Set, lower, increase or remove a limit on how much can be deposited over a selected period. Decreases take effect immediately; increases — and removal of a limit — are subject to a seven-day cool-off before they apply.
- Loss and spend limits. Tools to help customers cap their net spend over a period, in addition to deposit limits.
- Reality checks and time-outs. On-screen reminders of time and net position, and short break (time-out) options.
- Self-exclusion through the account and via the National Self-Exclusion Register (BetStop).
- Pre-commitment offered during account opening in accordance with the National Consumer Protection Framework.
- Activity statements available inside the account at any time (see below).
Activity statements
Each account holder receives an activity statement summarising deposits, wagers, wins, losses and net position. The first statement is issued 14 days after account opening; subsequent statements are issued monthly while the account remains active. All statements are available for download from inside the account at any time.
Pre-commitment
Pre-commitment is offered during account opening in accordance with the National Consumer Protection Framework. Customers can set a deposit limit before placing any wager. Decreases take effect immediately. Increases — and removal of a deposit limit — are subject to a seven-day cool-off period before they apply. Customers who declined to set a limit at account opening are prompted again at minimum every 12 months. See Deposit limits for full mechanics.
Indicators of gambling harm and problem gambling

- wagering to escape stress, boredom or low mood;
- hiding or lying about wagering;
- relationship, work or financial difficulties linked to wagering;
- feeling anxious, guilty or unable to stop.
